Just-released U. S. Census Bureau data from its official Population Estimates program shows continuing population loss for Shreveport … now down to 192,036 … through July 1, 2017.

The city’s population has dropped -9,812, or -4.9%, over the past five data years according to these official measurements:

2012 … 201,848
2013 … 199,999
2014 … 197,852
2015 … 196,649
2016 … 194,394
2017 … 192,036

The city’s political and other “leadership” does not comment on Shreveport’s population decline, much less explore and publicly debate its causes.
